A Road Trip Through Waterfall Valley - Day 2
C. Cloudbridge Natural Reserve
I drove back to San Isidro, where I took a detour and made my way to San Gerardo de Rivas, a small town nearby. Once there, the road took me a bit further on a very rough dirt road (4x4 definitely needed, otherwise leave your car on the town center and walk your way up to the Reserve).
Once inside Cloudbridge, there are three waterfalls which you could visit. First comes La Pacífica, which is just a 10 minute walk away to reach the viewing platform. The Other two, La Julia and La Caldera are a bit further in and will require a bit more of a strenuous hike. If you’d rather only visit La Pacífica, you’d probably need 30 minutes, at least to visit, and add somewhere between 30 minutes to 45 minutes to visit each one of the other falls. I don’t dare say which one is the best, but the place and the hike through the forest is surely worth a visit.
The place has no entrance fee, however they do ask for a small donation to keep running the reserve. Bear in mind that there are almost no facilities inside, however you’ll find food and accommodation in San Gerardo de Rivas town, nearby.
